Team of Growth regulators department won „The best R&D team competition“ organized in frame of international fair Bioforum.
The Bioforum 2012 fair took place in Brno in May, 23rd – 24th which is the largest and the most important event in biotechnology in Central Europe. Since year 2000 this event has offered opportunity to establish especially business contacts not only among partners from Central Europe but also from Western Europe and USA and has supported technology transfer from life science (biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology etc..) into pharmaceutical and food industry, cosmetics etc..
Representatives of the Centre of the region Haná for biotechnological and agricultural research participated this fair to search for possible enlargement of cooperation with commercial sector. International competition „The best R&D team competition“ was organized for scientific teams. Teams submitted their results which were not only patented but also commercially used. All teams presented their work and achieved results during special part of the fair program.
R&D team of Growth regulators department from Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research and Laboratory of growth regulators under leadership of prof. Strnad took part in this competition. Members of this team were associated professor Kryštof, dr. Doležal, dr. Szüčová, dr. Spíchal and dr. Zatloukal. The team submitted patented and commercially used results in field of biomedical chemistry, cosmetics, micropropagation of commercially important and endangered trees and woody plant species and in agrochemistry.
Two-stage evaluation of participating R&D teams from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic was done by expert committee consisting of private biotechnological companies representatives. Team of prof. Strnad passed into five-member final stage and team strategy and activities were presented by dr. Spíchal. Final results were published at the end of the fair during official ceremony and as the winner was announced team of prof. Strnad. The award was taken over by dr. Spíchal as a representative of all the team. The winning team received prize of 5 000 EUR which will be sent to Palacký University account and will be used for further development of scientific and research activities of the team.
At this occasion the team represented very successfully the Palacký University and Centre of the region Haná for biotechnological and agricultural research and presented achieved R&D results and their commercialization.
